A Baby Church with a Big Spirit: Celebrating 6 Months of Three Mystics
Watching our Three Mystics Friday Night service: My role last night was to sit back and watch my co-founders from the perspective of the congregation to take pictures. Much more than this occurred! Guided by Spirit, I made the suggestion that I do pictures and videos during service. We had talked about the fact that we always talk about taking pictures but we are all tied up during the service and get sidetracked or cannot manage it. Normally Rev. Dorinda and I share the chairing of the service and Jane organizes and plays the music selected. This week it was Jane’s night to serve as lecturer and medium. So this made a great time for me to play the videographer and will refrain from the choice of photographer too () as I am completely unqualified but with iPhone in-hand, I was ready! We asked our 3M friend and local musician, Gerard Yun to sing and play the music. From the very beginning the energy was high and ready for a night of fun and spirit! Rev. Dorinda in her poised and ecstatic bubbly energy quickly set the tone tonight was another night of celebrations. The announcements were filled with recognition of winning the gold award for best community organization in the Cambridge area, being added as an affiliate of the Spiritualist Church of Canada and the adventurous trek of the Davidson Snider family to pick up the massive crate, containing the new yurt and future Three Mystics home. This has been one of Jane’s visions for many reasons and this was happening! So a delivery issue was not standing in their way. There were also announcements of celebrations in the surrounding weeks, congratulations on the development students progression into week 6 and a mention of the events to come. The first song continued to sustain and increase the excitement with Sunshine On My Shoulders with guitar and sweet voices of harmony filling the great room. This was the prelude to the Healing portion of the service and also during the healing, flute sounds bounced through the home and continued to echo outside where we set up to do the Spiritual healing. Gary, Tim and I had an amazing view of the yard and lake in natures beauty and sounds to accompany the flute. I will say, it was Spiritual in itself to be healing outside. After healing Jane gave her uplifting and memorable accounts of the amazing family that made her who she is today. Bright, intuitive and firmly grounded in nature and it is deeply apparent when to enter their property that love lives there. It was at the playing of the next song Angel that had me immersed in the moment that I know quite well now as my favourite 3M moment, yet. The voices singing the song itself entangled in the love of Spirit and Angels, a familiar medium’s heart song, sung by all the congregation, Jane and Gerard clearly leading the wondrous vocals making it a moment to remember. Having the opportunity to just observe and take it in and to watch Jane just be able to sing without playing seemed to add to its power. Gerard entertained and entranced the crowd. Following this was the messages from Spirit presented in Jane’s loving way, proving our loved ones are watching, are around and share in our lives still each day. This grounded the night in a sweet and loving way that showed proof of life after death, as we believe it to be. The last song was Stand By Me and for me felt completely like the cherry on top of the chocolate sundae providing a sweet ending to our evening of community as exactly how it was meant to. Behind the scenes looked no different than what had taken place tonight, it was pure, soft and engaging. As I gazed around and took a number of photos (thanks Kalley for taking the healing pictures!) I’m not sure it captured the takeaway I had after last night. The coffee area filled with yummy homemade gluten free cupcakes (also Kalley). The image of friends nestled into the big comfy leather couch, even new people involved and enthusiastic to join in, Derek running the computer for the livestream while holding Odie, Jane and Derek’s undeniably adorable dachshund aka 3M mascot, kids playing in and around outside, Gerard happily singing in the environment that made him look in peace and tranquility and Rev. Dorinda beaming with pride and being in the present moment alongside Gerard, also in peace and tranquillity. Watching one of our volunteer helper’s, Denine give her time and still come when it’s a long weekend and any one in the congregation could clearly be enjoying time away. This… our service being what people chose to do for their evening brings us joy! Our community started with our welcome potluck in December 2024, so our community is just a baby at 6 months old and we are amazed and thankful to each and every person who supports this journey. The journey we are in together! Last night a memorable line Rev. Dorinda used was that she hoped years later people will say something like “my grandparents met at Three Mystics”. Hard to expand on that as that one statement proves we are here for Spirit and Spirit has brought us and will continue to bring us our growing community and we have nothing but gratitude for this and we too are watching as it takes us by surprise each and everyday!
